Traffic accident on Guadalupe Street claims life of Phillip Weidner

Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a single-vehicle collision in the 7600 block of Guadalupe Street on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at approximately 1:27 a.m. The driver involved in the crash was identified as Phillip Weidner, a white male born on September 19, 1970. He was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries but was pronounced deceased days later.

This incident marks Austin’s 61st fatal crash of the year, resulting in a total of 65 fatalities so far in 2025. Comparatively, by this date in 2024, there had been 50 fatal crashes leading to 53 deaths.

The investigation into this fatal crash is ongoing and initial assessments have been made. However, authorities note that fatality information may change as the investigation progresses.
