While The Loren condos, at the intersection of South Lamar Boulevard and West Riverside Drive, aren’t expected to open until next summer, 23 of the property’s 24 units are already taken.

Moreland Properties, the property’s sales team, reported that 23 units are under contract, according to an online report from Austin Towers. On Instagram, Moreland said The Loren is located near Auditorium Shores, just off the Hike and Bike Trail.

“The Loren offers residents a unique blend of urban convenience without being in the downtown district and the beautiful charm of its natural lake and park surroundings,” the company wrote on Instagram, as cited by Austin Towers.

According to a post online, Largo Concrete noted in July that The Loren at Lady Bird Lake had topped out.

“Located on the south end of the Lamar Boulevard Bridge, the building features panoramic views of the lake and the downtown skyline,” Largo said in its online post.

Largo also noted that the project includes parking and 108 hotel rooms.

“Residents and guests share the same amenities including a 24-hour concierge service, gym, spa and rooftop pool on level eight,” the company said in the post.

Formerly the site of a Taco Cabana, the project is actually nearly a decade in the making, with Austin Towers noting it was first unveiled as a 175-unit residential community.

The website noted the project was set to break ground in 2013, with California developers Post Investment Group and Dallas-based Ascension Development at the helm. Rhode Partners was to provide design work.

That project never got off the ground and Austin Towers reported the property was sold in 2014 to Major League Baseball pitcher Huston Street and his mother, Janie Street. The website noted the project was seemingly on ice until Street retired and moved forward with the project in earnest in 2019.
