Texas State University has unveiled a significant renovation of its Bobcat Stadium End Zone Complex, now named the Johnny and Nathali Weisman Football Performance Center. The 85,000-square-foot expansion aims to enhance player development and improve the fan experience. This project was designed by Pfluger Architects Inc. and constructed by White Construction.
The updated facility includes a new upper-level hospitality space, exterior concourses, and substantial upgrades to the field house. These improvements feature an 8,000-square-foot weight room and a 3,000-square-foot training room. Additional amenities focus on player recovery and wellbeing, including in-ground hydrotherapy pools, meeting spaces, locker room enhancements, and even a barber shop.
Chris Lammers, AIA, project manager and Higher Education Practice Director for Pfluger Architects Inc., said that “the university’s vision to have a facility to help student-athletes reach their full potential drove our design.” He emphasized that the design prioritizes efficiency to maximize athletic performance.
The renovations also aim to elevate the fan experience with features like a rooftop terrace offering sweeping stadium views. The Grand Central hallway connects various parts of the complex and provides branding opportunities ideal for recruitment efforts.
The project began in 2020 as a feasibility study conducted by architecture partner Perkins + Will. It was completed in time for Texas State University’s first home game of the Fall 2025 football season. The design is prepared for future enhancements as part of Texas State’s growth within the Pac-12 Conference.
