Texas Mutual Insurance Company has released its first Corporate Citizenship Impact Report, detailing the progress made since launching its corporate citizenship strategy last year. The report outlines significant achievements in four key areas: supporting working Texans, developing future insurance talent, leading with trust and credibility, and strengthening the Texas economy.

In 2023, Texas Mutual launched Texicare to improve healthcare access for small businesses and employees. The company also awarded $411,000 in student scholarships and $4.1 million in generational learning grants. Additionally, a new e-Learning system was introduced to assist policyholders with safety training. Strategic partnerships were formed with organizations such as Texas 2036, Early Matters Texas, and Foundation Communities.

To develop future insurance professionals, Texas Mutual initiated an internal mentorship program and career days. The company hired 19 trainees, two apprentices, and five interns. It received recognition as the 2023 Gulf Coast Region Business Apprenticeship Provider of the Year and Best Place for Working Parents.

The report highlights Texas Mutual’s commitment to integrity by identifying $9.7 million in fraud and abuse cases and contributing nearly 7,000 employee volunteer hours. The company maintained its “A” financial strength rating and “a+” issuer credit rating by AM Best.

Texas Mutual also focused on strengthening the state’s economy by distributing $340 million in dividends to over 69,000 policyholder owners and granting $3.9 million to nonprofits for workforce development. A partnership was initiated to build a new disaster preparedness and response tool.

“These achievements reflect our ongoing commitment to being a model corporate citizen in Texas now and for decades to come,” said the company in a statement.
