Texas Mutual Insurance Company organized its annual Month of Giving in October, marking the fifth year of collaboration with the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF). During this initiative, 389 employees volunteered a total of 1,347 hours across four Texas cities, including Austin. Their efforts supported 47 local organizations.
In Austin, volunteers participated in activities such as working with Mobile Loaves & Fishes at Community First! Village, assisting with gardening and landscaping tasks. They continued their family volunteer event tradition with Generation SERVE, creating items for Central Texas nonprofits. Employees also prepared meals at Caritas of Austin and packed food boxes for El Buen Samaritano’s food pantry. Additional efforts included organizing food at the Central Texas Food Bank warehouse and assembling thank-you bags for Texas Search and Rescue staff involved in recent flood recovery work.
Austin-based volunteers further hosted a teacher appreciation lunch for Wayside Schools, assisted children at Foundation Communities with homework and events, took part in festivities at Texas Children’s Hospital, and supported Saint Louise House’s Trunk or Treat event.
In Houston, employees served lunch to families at Ronald McDonald House Charities Greater Houston and prepared lunches for Kids’ Meals. Volunteers also contributed to meal preparation at the Houston Food Bank’s Kids’ Café, provided games and snacks to foster children through Casa de Esperanza de Los Ninos, and assembled hygiene kits for Project C.U.R.E.
Dallas-based staff prepared dinners for families at Ronald McDonald House of Dallas and held volunteer events benefiting several organizations. They spent time engaging with individuals at My Possibilities and delivered health kits to seniors via Foundation Communities.
In Lubbock, Texas Mutual hosted a Make-A-Wish North Texas celebration for a young girl’s trip to Walt Disney World. The team also supported the Texas South Plains Honor Flight luncheon for veterans visiting Washington D.C., partnered with the Volunteer Center of Lubbock on family activities for service members, cared for animals at Morris Safe House, prepared meals at Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Southwest, packed food boxes for South Plains Food Bank recipients, and assisted with a science carnival organized by Science Spectrum.
A company spokesperson stated: “It’s because of our employees and amazing community partners across the state that we’re able to build a stronger, safer and brighter future for our neighbors. During our Month of Giving and throughout the year, we’re grateful for our employees’ volunteer spirit and all our partners who share in our mission.”
