At the age of 16, Brance Tully faced a life-altering incident at work. In June 2020, while cleaning gutters on a rooftop at an automotive shop, he fell through a skylight and plummeted approximately 16 feet to the concrete floor below. This accident resulted in numerous broken bones and internal injuries.
Texas Mutual Insurance Company, as his employer’s workers’ compensation provider, intervened to ensure Brance received necessary medical care. His recovery journey involved an extended hospital stay and various treatments, during which he had to relearn basic functions such as walking, talking, eating, and moving his arms.
With Texas Mutual’s ongoing support, including over 20 surgeries and a kidney transplant, Brance began to regain hope for his future. His resilience earned him the 2022 Comp Laude Award in the injured worker category. The Comp Laude Awards are organized by WorkCompCentral to honor contributions within the workers’ compensation industry.
Three years after the accident, Texas Mutual continues to back Brance’s recovery with a treatment plan designed for long-term assistance. “We are inspired by Brance’s recovery,” said Jeremiah Brantley from Texas Mutual. “Honored to be a part of his journey and grateful to help hardworking Texans like him get the help they need.”
