The owner of what’s arguably Texas’s most popular convenience store has given back to his alma mater, Houston-based media outlets reported.

After he earned a construction science degree from Texas A&M University (TAMU) in 1980, Arch “Beaver” Aplin, III opened the first of what would be numerous Buc-ee’s stores statewide in Lake Jackson.

More than just a pit stop on long road trips throughout the Lone Star State, Buc-ee’s has developed a stellar reputation for its pristine restrooms and endless selection of snacks, drinks and novelty items.

Houston ABC affiliate KTRK reported that Aplin gifted TAMU $50 million earlier this month to start a hospitality entrepreneurship program.

According to KTRK, an academic center that’ll house the program will bear Aplin’s name.

“Arch ‘Beaver’ Aplin is a true visionary and one of the most creative entrepreneurs I have known,” TAMU President Dr. M. Katherine Banks said, the station reported. “He remains connected to his university, speaking to many students who share his passion for business and product development. Through this generous gift, he is creating a living, learning laboratory that will provide transformational opportunities for our students. The Aplin Center will positively impact Aggies for generations to come.”

Houston NBC affiliate KPRC reported that the Aplin Center will offer new university programs in hospitality, retail studies and food product development, with the new facility consisting of recreational spaces, retail food and service areas.

It’s assumed that the Aplin Center will also have clean restrooms just like every Buc-ee’s location, according to the station.

The university said that Aplin’s donation is one of the largest gifts it has ever received from a single donor, KPRC reported.

The Aplin Center will be built near the Texas A&M Hotel and Conference Center at the intersection of Wellborn Road and a pedestrian tunnel that serves as a major traffic source for the school, per the station.

KPRC reported that Buc-ee’s will celebrate 40 years of business next month.
