Austin Police Department detectives have arrested a suspect in connection with two shooting incidents that occurred on October 25, 2025. The suspect, identified as Harold N. Keene, a 55-year-old Black male, was apprehended after an investigation by the Austin Police Department.
The first incident took place at approximately 1:30 a.m. when officers responded to a shooting report in the 3200 block of Guadalupe Street. Upon arrival, they found a victim with a gunshot wound who indicated that the suspect had fled south on Guadalupe. Despite searching the area, officers were unable to locate the suspect initially.
Later that day, at around 12:06 p.m., police responded to another shooting call at the Austin Central Library located at 710 W Cesar Chavez Street. Officers found another victim with a gunshot wound; this individual was taken to a local hospital and is expected to recover from non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect reportedly left the scene immediately after the library shooting and boarded a CapMetro bus.
Authorities were able to gather and disseminate a description of the suspect citywide. Keene was eventually found inside a business in a shopping center at 4006 S Lamar Boulevard and subsequently arrested and booked into Travis County Jail.
Keene faces charges including one count of aggravated assault related to the library incident, along with two counts of aggravated assault and one count of deadly conduct connected to the earlier event on Guadalupe Street. Both victims are expected to survive their injuries.
