Friends and family of the late Richard Parker will gather to celebrate his work, including his recent release, "THE CROSSING." The event is open to the public and will be held at BookPeople on the second floor. It begins at 7:00 P.M. and is expected to last between 30 to 60 minutes.

Attendees can expect readings from Parker's work, shared memories, and discussions on Texas history. Seating will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. There will be no live stream or recording of the event.

Richard Parker's book, "THE CROSSING: El Paso, the Southwest, and America’s Forgotten Origin Story," offers a unique perspective on American history by focusing on El Paso, Texas. The book suggests that America's beginnings are rooted in the West rather than the East. El Paso serves as a significant historical crossroads for Indigenous America and European conquest.

Parker was an accomplished journalist who contributed to publications like the New York Times. His commentary on the El Paso massacre was recognized by the National Society of Newspaper Columnists in 2020. NBC News included him in its "#NBCLatino20" list in 2019 for his influence among Latinos in America.
