Portland Timbers edge out Austin FC with late goal

Austin FC faced a narrow defeat against Portland Timbers, losing 1-0 in their recent match at Providence Park. The game marked the Major League Soccer debuts for Austin's new signings, Myrto Uzuni and Nico Dubersarsky.

The first half saw both teams actively seeking to score. Portland had an early chance, but it was stopped by a key save from Austin's goalkeeper Brad Stuver in the fifth minute. Austin also had opportunities, including a notable free kick by Brandon Vazquez, but neither team managed to score before halftime.

In the second half, Austin continued to press for a goal. However, it was Portland who eventually scored in the 89th minute through David Da Costa, securing all three points for the home team.

The match took place under cloudy skies with temperatures around 50 degrees. The officiating team included referee Ismir Pekmic and assistants Logan Brown and Kevin Lock.
