AUSTIN CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL CALLED MEETING MINUTES
The City Council of Austin, Teras, convened in a Special Called Meeting on Tuesday, December 10, 2024, at Austin City Hall 301 W. 2nd Street, Austin, TX and via videoconference.
Mayor Watson called the Council Meeting to order at 9:01 a.m. Council Member Velasquez appeared via videoconference. Council Member Harper-Madison was absent.
DISCUSSION ITEM
1 Approve an ordinance amending Ordinance No. 20241119-002 ordering the December 14,2024, runoff election to add the following exhibits: executed English and Spanish versions of the ordinance calling the election (Exhibit 13); an executed joint election agreement with Travis County establishing the parties' roles and responsibilities for the conduct of the runoff election (Exhibit C); election day polling places (Exhibit D), election day judges (Exhibit E), central counting station staff (Exhibit F), early voting ballot board members (Exhibit G), and signature verification committee members (Exhibit H); adopting the polling places listed in Exhibit D and appointing the election staff listed in Exhibits E, F, G, and H: and declaring an emergency. Funding: This item has no fiscal impact.
Ordinance No. 20241210-001 was approved on consent on Mayor Pro Tem Pool's motion, Council Member Qadri's second on an 8-0 vote. Council Members Ellis and Velasquez were off the dais. Council Member Harper-Madison wax absent.
PUBLIC HEARING AND POSSIBLE ACTION
2. Conduct a public hearing relating to the establishment of an Austin Tourism Public Improvement District composed of hotels with one hundred or more rooms and the advisability of the improvement as authorized by Texas Local Government Code Chapter 372. Funding: This item has no fiscal impact.
The public hearing was conducted and a motion to close the public hearing was approved on a 9-0 vote. Council Member Velasquez was off the dais. Council Member Harper-Madison was absent.
Mayor Watson adjourned the Council Meeting at 9:05 a.m. without objection.
The minutes were approved on this the 30th day of January 2025 on consent on Council Member Qadri's motion, Mayor Pro Tem Fuentes' second on an 11-0 vote.
