Austin ISD has officially begun its Black History Month celebrations with various activities, including student projects and a panel discussion. As part of these events, students from LBJ, Northeast, and Eastside early college high schools participated in the East Austin Crawl and Huston-Tillotson University Tour. This initiative aimed to educate students about the historical businesses, educational centers, and cultural assets of East Austin.

The event was organized in collaboration with the L.C. Anderson Yellow Jacket Alumni Association, Austin Ed Fund, and the Austin ISD Black History Month inclusion group. It is part of the district's efforts to commemorate Black History Month by highlighting significant local history.

Throughout February, Austin ISD will continue celebrating Black History Month with special events designed to engage students and foster an understanding of African American history.

"Los estudiantes ven la historia tomar vida en el recorrido de Crawl del este de Austin y la Universidad Huston-Tillotson," reads a statement emphasizing the importance of such educational experiences for students.

The tour offered participants insights into East Austin's past and present cultural landscape, reinforcing the district's commitment to inclusive education.
