Austin ISD has announced the launch of its Early Bird Pre-K4 lottery, offering families an opportunity to secure a spot in the district's new tuition-based pre-kindergarten program. Traditionally, Austin ISD has delayed opening Pre-K enrollment until April 1 due to state regulations on free Pre-K eligibility. This year, however, they are allowing early applications for tuition-based seats to ensure access to affordable and high-quality Pre-K4 education.

The application window is open until March 7 for in-district families with children who will turn four on or before September 1 and do not qualify for free Pre-K. These families can apply to up to three Pre-K4 campuses. After this period, seats will be allocated through a random lottery.

Families not selected for the Early Bird Tuition-Based Pre-K4 should not be discouraged. When General Enrollment opens on April 1, they will have an advantage in their application process and can apply for Pre-K4 with minimal effort through Enroll Austin. At that time, enrollment will also commence for all free and tuition-based Pre-K3 and Pre-K4 spots.

Families eligible for free Pre-K are assured a seat for their child, with reserved spots opening for applications on April 1.
