The University of Texas at Austin College of Natural Sciences is collaborating with Sandbox Films to present a new series focused on black holes. The series will include in-person presentations and science-themed documentaries produced by the Oscar-nominated studio, known for exploring scientific inquiry.

One of the featured documentaries, "Black Holes: The Edge of All We Know," delves into the paradox surrounding black holes: whether anything that falls inside is lost forever. The film follows a group of physicists working in the English countryside as they seek answers to this question.

In parallel, a global network of scientists endeavors to capture the first photograph of a black hole, an effort described as both straightforward and profound.

Dr. Karl Gebhardt, chair of the Department of Astronomy at The University of Texas at Austin and an expert on supermassive black holes, will speak before the screening. This event is part of this year's Texas Science Festival.
