Due to anticipated severe winter weather, Travis County Judge Andy Brown announced the closure of all non-essential county offices, services, and facilities on Jan. 21. Essential emergency personnel are expected to continue their duties. Employees with questions about their department should contact their immediate supervisor.

The Travis County Commissioners Court voting session scheduled for that day at 9 a.m. is also canceled.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Travis County from Monday night into Tuesday. Residents are encouraged to monitor updates from the NWS and local news outlets to stay informed about weather conditions and reconsider travel plans during this period.

Judge Brown has provided several safety recommendations for residents:

- If travel is necessary, wear warm layers, drive cautiously, slow down, and maintain distance between vehicles.

- Protect the "4 Ps": People, Pets, Pipes, Plants.

- Prepare an emergency kit with essentials like food, water, flashlights, batteries, and blankets.

- Sign up for text and email alerts from power and water providers in case of outages.

- Register for emergency alerts via WarnCentralTexas.org for information on weather warnings and other emergencies.

- Keep flammable items away from space heaters and fireplaces.
