On November 16, 2024, at approximately 5:25 p.m., a suspect armed with a knife threatened a man working in Republic Square Park, located at 422 Guadalupe Street. The Austin Police Department (APD) received the call and responded to the scene. The victim was found with a laceration on the left side of his face. He reported that he was using a leaf blower when an unknown individual attacked him and then fled.
The suspect is described as a black male, approximately six feet tall, wearing a white shirt and black pants. Further investigation revealed that the suspect boarded a Capital Metro Bus near Oak Springs Drive and Ridgeline before arriving at the park.
The suspect is believed to be between 50 to 60 years old and walks with a limp. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a white t-shirt with "We Never Give Up" printed on it, gray pants, and black shoes.
APD urges anyone with information to contact their Aggravated Assault unit at 512-974-5245. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information leading to an arrest.
