The Blanton Museum of Art is currently hosting a solo exhibition by Bahamian conceptual artist Tavares Strachan, titled "Tavares Strachan: Between Me and You."

According to a press release issued by the museum, the exhibit began receiving visitors on November 9 and will run through June 1, 2025. It marks the thirteenth Contemporary Project in the museum's series showcasing new and recent works by contemporary artists.

Strachan hopes his exhibit will prompt museum visitors to consider how history is recorded and what kind of cultural knowledge is legitimized. The museum's Contemporary Project gallery resembles a meadow of dried rice grass, shaped like the West African Adinkra symbol of impermanence, according to the release. Another prominent part of the exhibit consists of three sculptures from his Black Madonna series, which take the form of a Pietà by Renaissance artist Michelangelo.

The exhibition "Between Me and You" is connected to Strachan’s ongoing conceptual project "The Encyclopedia of Invisibility," a 4,000-page work documenting people, events, and ideas omitted from the Encyclopedia Britannica and history books. The museum provides a pocket guide to this encyclopedia for visitors to view.
