The City of Austin Housing Department, in collaboration with Saigebrook Development and O-SDA Industries, recently celebrated the grand opening of June West, a new mixed-income community located in the Brentwood neighborhood of North Austin.
According to an October 28 press release issued by the city, June West is situated at 1200 W. Koenig Lane and comprises 80 modern units designed to serve families at 30%, 50%, 60%, and 80% median family income (MFI). The property spans 1.13 acres and includes amenities such as a children's playroom, a clubhouse with a community room, a cyber lounge, a fitness center, and bicycle parking. All common areas are accessible to individuals with limited mobility, and all units are fully adaptable and served by elevators.
The development of June West was facilitated by a loan agreement obtained by the Austin Housing Finance Corporation (AHFC), with construction beginning in September 2022. Interim Housing Department Director Mandy DeMayo said in the release that June West demonstrates her department's commitment to providing diverse affordable housing options that cater to the needs of all Austin residents.
June West also participated in the S.M.A.R.T. Housing program, which aims to promote the creation of housing for low- and moderate-income Austinites by offering fee waivers for development permits in exchange for onsite income-restricted units. To qualify for this program, all units must adhere to Austin Energy Green Building Program (GBP) standards.
