The ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot, a popular Thanksgiving event in Austin, began in 1991 with just a few volunteers and 600 participants. It has since become the largest five-mile run in Texas, attracting over 20,000 participants from across the United States and beyond, supported by more than 700 volunteers.

The event is not only a family-friendly activity but also supports a charitable cause. "100% of all proceeds go directly to Caritas of Austin," an organization focused on preventing and ending homelessness in the local community. The Turkey Trot has raised more than $5 million for Caritas over the years.

It is important to note that this is a venue rental event presented by an independent organization, separate from the Long Center. "Any views or opinions expressed in this event or by the event organizers do not necessarily reflect the views, positions, or values of the Long Center."

Furthermore, the Long Center emphasizes its commitment to maintaining "a safe and welcoming environment" and states it will not tolerate any form of demeaning or discriminatory behavior toward patrons or staff.
