Pease Park Conservancy is collaborating with Golden Monkey Qi Gong to host a guided Qi Gong movement and listening event at the Treehouse on Wednesday, October 17th. Brent Thomas of Golden Monkey Qi Gong will lead the session.

Brent Thomas has been practicing and studying Qi Gong for over 25 years and teaching for more than a decade. He holds a Master's degree in Chinese Medicine from Texas Health and Science University. Thomas has taught at various conferences and festivals, including Paleo f(x)™, Art Outside, Sonic Bloom, SolarPunk Summit, and HDYH Fest. He currently teaches at Shuniya Yoga Collective and Kuya in Austin.

Thomas founded Golden Monkey Qi Gong, which offers classes throughout Austin and runs a certification program in the practice.

Qi Gong is an ancient Chinese practice that combines physical movements, breathing techniques, and mental focus to balance "Qi" or "Chi" (life energy). It emphasizes harmony, balance, martial training, and self-cultivation.

The event will take place at Pease Park's Treehouse. Participants will engage in coordinated breathwork, meditation, and movement to cultivate relaxation while feeling invigorated. The class will be held on the upper level of the structure with space limitations allowing only 20 people on the net at one time; additional participants can gather on the surrounding metal catwalk.

For those unable to attend this session, registration is open for another Soundbath event scheduled for November 6th featuring Cynthia Bernard of ATX Yoga Girl.
