Concerts 4 Austin Charities (C4AC) has announced that its 2024 Austin Cares Concert will take place at the Moody Center on January 28, 2024. The event will support Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM), Superhero Kids, and the Step Onward Foundation. The Doobie Brothers, featuring original members Pat Simmons, Tom Johnston, and John McFee along with Michael McDonald, will headline the concert.
The Doobie Brothers began their successful 50th Anniversary Tour in August of 2020. Formed in San Jose, California in 1970, the band has released 14 studio albums with six reaching the top ten on The Billboard 200 Album Chart. Their album "Minute by Minute" topped charts for five weeks in 1978. They have won multiple Grammy awards and were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on November 7, 2020.
Bill Murray, co-founder and President of C4AC stated: “After years of doing local shows in support of Austin’s music community and successfully producing their annual fundraising event the Austin Cares Concert in 2019, 2020, and 2022, we were given the amazing opportunity to move the event to Moody Center for 2024.” He added: “Obviously, filling a 10,000-seat arena produces new and exciting challenges... We could not be more thrilled to have been able to secure The Doobie Brothers for this important fund-raising event.”
Tickets are available starting Friday, November 17 at 10 am CT with a venue presale running from Wednesday until Thursday at 10 pm using code DOOBS24. Local artists The Patrice Pike and PAACK will also perform.
C4AC is an Austin-based nonprofit organization focused on producing music events to aid local charities' fundraising efforts. It currently partners with HAAM, Superhero Kids, and Step Onward Foundation.
Moody Center serves as a premier venue in Austin designed specifically for concerts. It replaces Frank C. Erwin Jr. Center at The University of Texas and hosts various events including basketball games and family shows.
