The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day event is scheduled for April 27, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Residents are encouraged to safely dispose of unwanted over-the-counter, prescription, and pet medications at designated locations in Travis County. The initiative aims to prevent medication misuse, reduce opioid addiction risks, and protect local water supplies.
Participants can drop off medications anonymously at various constable precincts across Austin. These include Precinct 1 at 4717 Heflin Ln Ste 127, Precinct 2 at 10409 Burnet Rd Ste 150, Precinct 3 at 8656 B West Highway 71 Ste 132, Precinct 4 at 4011 McKinney Falls Pkwy Ste 1100, and Precinct 5 at 1003 Guadalupe St.
"Join us in this anonymous event to safely dispose of unneeded over-the-counter, prescription, and pet medications from your home," organizers stated.
This free event will feature volunteers from Constable Precincts and University of Texas pharmacy students assisting with the collection process.
