Austin Police seek public help identifying suspect in elderly assault case

The Austin Police Department (APD) Criminal Investigations Division is seeking public assistance to identify a male suspect involved in an assault on an elderly man. The incident occurred on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, at approximately 6:16 p.m. at the Central Market located at 4001 North Lamar Boulevard.

According to the APD, the suspect approached the elderly victim and aggressively shoved him to the ground. After the victim got up, the suspect pushed him two more times.

The suspect is described as a white male between 35 and 45 years old. He is estimated to be between 5’9” and 6’1” tall and weighs between 175 and 210 pounds. He has long black hair styled in a ponytail and a full dark beard with grey hair in the chin area. No visible tattoos were noted.

Anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to submit tips anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information leading to an arrest.
