Austin FC II secured a 3-1 victory over Houston Dynamo 2 on Friday night at Parmer Field, extending their home winning streak. Micah Burton scored twice, and Alonso Ramírez added a penalty kick to ensure the win.
Burton opened the scoring in the 5th minute with a header from a Jimmy Farkarlun cross. The team went into halftime leading by one goal and with a numerical advantage after a Houston player received a red card shortly before the break.
In the second half, Austin capitalized on their advantage. Burton drew a penalty that Ramírez converted in the 57th minute. Six minutes later, Burton netted his second goal of the night, assisted by Ervin Torres.
Houston managed to score late in stoppage time through Lukas Bruegmann, assisted by Ousmane Sylla, but it was not enough to alter the outcome. Austin's victory earned them crucial points in their bid for playoff positions in the MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference.
