This week, the district will begin its annual process of moving teachers to where they are most needed. This process, often referred to as leveling, aims to balance class sizes across campuses and the district.
Each year, efforts are made to predict student enrollment at each school. Early registration is crucial as it provides an accurate picture of where teachers are needed. Importantly, no jobs are at risk during this process.
Teachers will be moved based on student distribution; some schools have more students than expected and require additional teachers, while others have fewer. It is estimated that fewer than 0.5% of teachers will need to be reassigned to support students on other campuses.
The objective is to implement these changes early in the year so that students and staff can settle in for the remainder of the academic year.
Middle and high school students may experience schedule changes as teachers are relocated. Elementary students may have new teachers and classmates due to class shifts.
Affected staff will be notified by Friday, Sept. 6. Parents of affected students will be informed by Monday, Sept. 9. New classes will officially start by Monday, Sept. 16.
