Maestro en Casa is celebrating its 10th anniversary with an enhanced curriculum and a laptop giveaway. This year, the program will include computer skills in its classes to help parents learn basic English for navigating American situations and systems.

Human I-T's donation of 150 refurbished laptop computers will provide Maestro en Casa students with new skills to navigate the increasingly digital world. Classes will commence this month at 41 Austin ISD campuses, supported by Parent Support staff in person and a group of ACE Program instructors who teach virtually.

Since its inception in 2015, Maestro en Casa has encouraged parents to pursue further education, whether it be returning to school, obtaining a GED, learning new skills, or continuing their ESL studies at a more advanced level. To date, more than 1,000 parents have completed the program. It remains the only program of its kind in Texas.

"Empowering parents to get involved in their child’s education leads to better academic outcomes for students and allows families to stay engaged in the Austin ISD community."
