CapMetro is aiding Austin ISD families by donating 7,300 single-day bus passes. This initiative aims to alleviate transportation challenges for parents accompanying their children to school or engaging in campus activities.

All children already ride free on CapMetro, but these passes will enable parents to join them and facilitate their mobility throughout the city. The distribution of passes will begin on the first day of school, August 20, through referrals.

For families at Title I campuses, Parent Support Specialists will distribute the passes. At non-Title I campuses, school leadership will handle distribution.

"Thank you CapMetro for keeping our families on the go,” said Family Engagement Coordinator Gloria Vera-Bedolla. “This partnership will help us remove the transportation barrier for families across the district. Identifying and addressing a family's needs is our priority at Austin ISD."
