The University of Texas at Austin and Texas Athletics will host an all-day celebration on June 30 to mark the Longhorns' inaugural day in the Southeastern Conference (SEC). The event, which runs from 1 to 10 p.m., will be held across campus with primary activities centered on the Main Mall in front of the UT Tower. Admission is free, and both Longhorn Nation and the Central Texas community are invited.
A key highlight of the day will be the official SEC Ceremony at 8:30 p.m. on the Tower Stage. This ceremony will feature remarks from SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey, Chairman of the University of Texas System Board of Regents Kevin Eltife, President Jay Hartzell, and Vice President and Athletics Director Chris Del Conte. The ceremony will conclude with a fireworks display from the UT Tower.
“UT’s move to the Southeastern Conference is an extraordinary moment for Texas Athletics, Longhorn Nation and our entire University. It is only fitting that we celebrate this occasion with a Texas-sized party on the Forty Acres, open to all,” said Hartzell. “We are excited to bring our passion, history and commitment to excellence to our new conference, and this event will be a chance to highlight the University’s winning tradition and all it means to be a Longhorn.”
The celebration will include concerts on the Tower Stage starting at 5:30 p.m., culminating in a headlining performance by an undisclosed global superstar at 9 p.m.
Starting at 2 p.m., attendees can participate in interactive games and activities for families, including attractions like a Ferris wheel, giant fun slide, Longhorns inflatable games, among others. This event also marks the first opportunity for fans to purchase exclusive Texas x SEC co-branded merchandise.
“This is a day we have been building towards for years,” Del Conte said. “We can’t wait to see the Burnt Orange and White come out for a jam-packed day of activities celebrating all of our traditions and create new memories as we join the SEC.”
Fans can capture memories with iconic Texas Traditions such as Bevo XV, Smokey the Cannon, Big Bertha drum, along with performances by groups like Texas Cheer and Hook ’Em mascot. Attendees can also explore new conference peers at SEC Village or interact with artifacts at Championship Corner.
Additionally, several university museums including LBJ Presidential Library, Texas Science & Natural History Museum, and Blanton Museum of Art will offer free activities from 1 to 5 p.m.
The SEC Network will broadcast live from Main Mall between 5-9 p.m., providing unique photo opportunities related to its programming.
Food options from local food trucks will be available throughout campus while adults can enjoy beverages at Still Austin Music Lounge or Big Beertha beer station.
Parking for attendees is free in designated university garages starting at 11 a.m. Organizers encourage fans to arrive early wearing burnt orange attire.
