Austin police seek public help in identifying child trafficking suspect

The Austin Police Department (APD) Human Trafficking Unit is seeking the public's assistance in identifying a suspect involved in a child trafficking case. The incident occurred on Wednesday, August 2, 2023, around 6:00 a.m.

According to the APD, the suspect abducted a child from the St. John’s neighborhood between Duval Street and I-35. The suspect then transported the child to an unknown motel where the child was sexually assaulted. The motel is described as a yellow building with a “motel” sign, surrounded by trees, and featuring two floors of exterior stairs.

Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program by visiting austincrimestoppers.org or calling 512-472-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 may be available for information leading to an arrest.
