AUSTIN, TX, May 20, 2024 - In a unique initiative inspired by Justin Timberlake’s unofficial “It’s Gonna Be May” month, the largest animal shelters in the Austin area have joined forces to find loving homes for pets. The "It’s Gonna Be May" Adoption Promotion is underway and will continue through May 27 at seven participating shelters.

The shelters involved in this promotion are Austin Pets Alive!, Austin Animal Center, Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter, City of Georgetown Animal Shelter, Austin Humane Society, San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter, and Bastrop County Animal Services. The aim of this campaign is to encourage people to adopt as many animals as possible and provide them with a second chance at life. As an added incentive, two lucky adopters will win tickets to Justin Timberlake’s concert at the Moody Center on Friday, May 31.

Dr. Ellen Jefferson, President and CEO of Austin Pets Alive!, expressed her enthusiasm about the collaboration. "We are thrilled to join forces to find homes for as many animals as possible," she said. "As our vibrant area grows, we encourage our community to open their hearts and homes to these animals in need.”

Misty Valenta, Animal Services Director of Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter (WCRAS), echoed this sentiment. “Our team believes in thinking outside of the box to find new ways to save lives," she stated. "We look forward to a very successful week of adoptions by our amazing community.”

Don Bland, Chief Animal Services Officer at Austin Animal Center also shared his thoughts on the initiative: “This area-wide adoption promotion celebrates the strength of our community uniting for a common cause – our animals."

Each shelter has its own unique needs and populations; therefore each promotional offer varies accordingly. Interested individuals can visit any of these shelters during business hours between May 20-27, 2024. However, some organizations, including Austin Animal Center, will be closed on May 27 in observance of Memorial Day. Some exclusions and spay/neuter deposits may apply. For more information and to see available animals, individuals are encouraged to visit the websites of the participating shelters.
