Austin’s pools are ready for the 2024 Summer swim season with 29 pools opening from mid-May through June 10. The opening schedule is:

"Lifeguard recruitment plays a critical role in the Aquatic Division’s ability to open Austin’s pools for the Summer. Northwest and Garrison Pools opened fully staffed on April 29, due to the Aquatic Division’s lifeguard hiring efforts. Additional pool information is available at AustinTexas.gov/Pools."

"The Aquatic Division has hired 470 lifeguards ready to work, up from 333 this time last year. May is a critical recruitment month to reach the Aquatic Division’s hiring goal of 850 lifeguards ready to work for Summer 2024."

"The next Austin Lifeguard Hiring Event is Friday, May 17, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., at the Aquatic Office, 2818 San Gabriel St. People can apply and register for classes at the event. Austin residents can apply online anytime at LifeguardAustin.com."

"Working as a lifeguard is one of the most attractive summer jobs for Austin residents 15 years old and up. The Austin lifeguard benefits package includes a starting $20.80/hour pay rate, free training, a $400 stipend after 80 hours of work, free uniforms, a flexible work schedule, a free bus pass, and paid leave."

"In addition to providing a wide variety of swim classes for all ages, the Aquatic Division’s instructional programs are a pipeline for recreational Swim Team Program participants and future lifeguards. Get more information about swim classes and the Swim Team at AustinTexas.gov/Swimming."
