Austin ISD Celebrates Student and Community Achievements at Latino Academic Achievement Awards (En español)

The Austin ISD community recently came together to celebrate the 16th annual Latino Academic Achievement Awards, shining a spotlight on the exceptional accomplishments of students within the district. The event also recognized community members who have played a role in supporting student achievement.

In a statement, the importance of the celebration was highlighted, emphasizing how it positively reinforces the values of hard work, dedication, and persistence required for academic success while also paving the way for leadership opportunities within the Latino community.

The ceremony featured impressive student performances, including those by Aída Odette Ortiz López from LBJ Early College High School and the Akins Early College High School Mariachi group.

A total of almost 200 students were honored during the event, with special recognition given to those named as the Latino Seniors with the Highest GPA on their respective campuses. The list of honorees includes Isabella Santiago from Akins ECHS, Juliette Flores Madere from Anderson High School, Madelyn Isabel Pérez from Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders, Aidan Mills from Austin High School, Amanda Buentello from Bowie High School, Lena Jiménez Hendrix from Crockett Early College High School, Carlos Barrón from Eastside Early College High School, Elizabeth Kuster from Garza Independence High School, Kimberly Rivera from Graduation Preparatory Academy, Aiyana Paz Cassera González from Graduation Preparatory Academy at Navarro Early College High School, Cassandra Loera from LBJ ECHS, Dante Gaviño Koffler from Liberal Arts and Science Academy, Sabina Guardado from McCallum High School, Tomás Sorto from Navarro High School, Mónica Santiago Cuevas from Northeast Early College High School, and Mirella Méndez Paredón from Travis Early College High School.
