The Austin Police Department (APD) is currently conducting a Death Investigation in the 5800 block of Spring Meadow Road following the discovery of a deceased individual. The deceased has been identified as Cristian Rangel, a Hispanic male born on June 4, 1999.
According to reports, officers responded to the scene on Friday, April 19, 2024, at approximately 7:06 p.m. and found Rangel already deceased. Detective and Crime Scene Specialists were called in to process the area where Rangel's body was located.
Rangel had been reported missing by the Austin Police Department earlier in the month on April 8, 2024. The circumstances surrounding his death remain under investigation by the Austin Police Department.
In a public statement, authorities urged anyone with information related to the case to come forward. Individuals can contact the Austin Police Department at 512-974-TIPS or submit tips anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program either online at austincrimestoppers.org or by calling 512-472-8477. A potential reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information that leads to an arrest.
