The Austin Police Department (APD) is currently searching for a person of interest in connection to an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. The incident occurred on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at approximately 2:59 a.m. in the 8900 block of N Lamar Boulevard.

According to APD, officers responded to a report of a shooting and found a male victim with a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital and is said to have non-life-threatening injuries.

In an effort to solve the case, APD is seeking the public's assistance in identifying a person of interest. The individual is described as a Hispanic male, wearing a purple shirt and dark pants. He was last seen driving a silver Chevrolet Traverse or Equinox.

APD has released an image of the person of interest and is urging anyone with information to come forward. Detective John Smith stated, "We are asking the public to help us identify this person of interest. Any information, no matter how small it may seem, could be crucial to the investigation."
