Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick has announced that he is currently recovering from viral pneumonia, according to a statement from his office. "He is recovering and working from home", stated the office of the Republican leader.

In a release issued by the Lieutenant Governor, it was confirmed that the upper chamber of the Texas Legislature is fully prepared to address any issues that Gov. Greg Abbott may add to the agenda for a potential fourth special session of the 88th Legislature.

Austin FOX station KTBC News recently reported that on Nov. 6, the Texas Senate was due to discuss border security legislation. House Bill (HB) 4, as outlined by KTBC News, seeks to categorize illegal entry into Texas from Mexico as a state crime and authorizes law enforcement to either send migrants back across the border or arrest them if they fail to comply.

Earlier last month, following commencement of their third special session, the Senate approved a school voucher bill. The Office of the Texas Governor informed Austin Journal that Abbott has expanded this legislative agenda after discussions with Patrick and Speaker of the Texas House Representatives Representative Dade Phelan (R-Beaumont). New inclusions cover additional school finance aspects such as teacher pay raises, school safety measures and special education.
