Chair Watson called the committee meeting to order at 9:00 a.m.

Approval of Minutes
1. Approve the minutes of the Public Safety Committee meeting on February 13, 2023
The minutes of the February 13,2023 Public Safety Committee meeting were approved on Council Member Vela’s motion, and Council Member Qadri’s second, on a 4-0 vote.
Discussion and Possible Action
2. Discussion and possible action on public safety issues in the Rainey Street district.
The committee took speakers on and discussed public safety issues in the Rainey Street district.
Briefings
3. Staffing Update (Emergency Medical Services Department, Austin Fire Department, Austin Police Department).
The Committee received a briefing from APD (Police Chief Joseph Chacon and Assistant Director Michelle Schmidt) AFD (Fire Chief Joel Baker and Assistant Chief Rob Vires) EMS (EMS Chief Robert Luckritz and Assistant Chief Theresa Gardner)
4. Public safety facilities update - emergency power generation capabilities and reliability.
The Committee received a briefing from AFD (Assistant Chief Brandon Wade) and EMS (Assistant Chief Wesley Hopkins)
