Austin FC has secured the services of goalie Brad Stuver for the next three seasons, according to a club-issued press release

Verde and Stuver reached an agreement on a new multi-year contract that will run through at least 2025 with an option for the year after, the release said.

The 31-year-old Stuver joined Austin FC as a free agent in 2020.

Aside from guarding the pipes for one of Major League Soccer’s (MLS) newest teams, he has entrenched himself in community service in the state capital.

“From the moment I stepped foot in Austin, I felt right at home with the team, community and fans and I am looking forward to continuing my journey here,” Stuver said in the release. “I’m excited to come back next year and keep making history with my team and this city.”

In 2022, Stuver helped Verde go all the way to the Western Conference Finals in the MLS Cup Playoffs more than a year after the franchise commenced play.

According to the release, he logged 3,008 minutes in 34 appearances, which were all starts, as well as collected 100 saves and generated a 33% penalty kick save rate in the regular season and playoffs combined.

“Brad is an amazing asset to this team and community, and we are happy to have him with us for the next several years,“ Claudio Reyna, the team’s sporting director, said in the release.

Austin NBC affiliate KXAN reported that Stuver’s passion for helping others is evident in his support of The Laundry Project and his participation in a South by Southwest (SXSW) panel discussion encouraging athletes to use their influence for good.

Per the station, he was a two-time finalist for the MLS Humanitarian of the Year and the first-ever MLS player to be considered for ESPN’s Muhammed Ali Humanitarian of the Year accolade.
