The PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE convened in a hybrid format meeting at 301 W. 2nd Street in Austin, Texas.

Committee Vice Chair Kelly called the committee meeting to order at 2:06 p.m.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

1. Approve the minutes of the February 8, 2022 meeting of the Public Safety Committee.

The motion approving the minutes of the February 8, 2022 meeting of the Public Safety Committee was passed on Council Member Ellis’ motion, seconded by Council Member Vella, without objection, with a 4-0 vote.

2. Introduction of Robert Luckrtiz as new Chief of Emergency Medical Services. Sponsors: Council Member Natasha Harper-Madison, Council Member Paige Ellis

EMS Chief Robert Luckrtiz introduced himself.

3. Report on use of THC by first responders.

4. Report on City infrastructure resiliency protocols and processes relate to winterization.

6. Discuss and recommend judicial appointments to the City of Austin Municipal Court.

Motion to approve the recommendations of the judicial review panel to recommend Gordon Karchmer, Richard Olivo, and Rae-Ann Allong as substitute judges was passed on Council Member Kelly’s motion, seconded by Council Member Vella, without objection, with a 4-0 vote.

EXECUTIVE SESSION

1. Discuss candidates for judicial appointments to the City of Austin Municipal Court (Personnel matters – Section 551.074 of the Government Code).
