Nearly a month ago, Pierceson Coody helped the University of Texas (UT) Longhorns men's golf team win the program's fourth overall national championship.

On Sunday, he secured his first professional golf win, the Live and Work in Maine Open at Falmouth Country Club near Portland, Maine, on the Korn Ferry Tour, Austin NBC affiliate KXAN reported.

According to KXAN, Coody, who's also a fresh UT graduate, produced multiple rounds in which he shot 60 to best his closest competitor, Jacob Bergeron, by five shots.

The station reported that Coody placed first in the 2022 PGA Tour Collegiate rankings and will see plenty of action on the Korn Ferry Tour this year.

In a report about his inaugural pro triumph on the PGA Tour's website, Coody recalled how he had it easy on the front nine while the back nine presented some challenges.

“It's crazy. It feels like a blur,” Coody, whose twin brother was also member of the UT title-winning team, said in the report. “I knew the front nine was gettable and I knew in the afternoon this back nine plays tough. I just played it really aggressive on the front nine, just great numbers, really nice putts. Just everything seemed to go my way. The back nine is tough. It gets blowing, 15-20 miles an hour and some tougher pins, so I just kind of held on.”

The victory occurred on just his third start on the Korn Ferry Tour and after he finished fourth at the Wichita Open and missed the cut at the BMW Charity Pro-Am, which was his first start, KXAN reported.

Coody's alma mater gave him a shout-out on social media.

"Congrats, @pierceson_coody," the UT men's golf program's official Twitter account posted. "First win as a pro."
