Austin FC has extended head coach Josh Wolff's contract through 2025, according to a franchise-issued press release

Club CEO and Majority Owner Anthony Precourt made the announcement on Friday (May 13), per the release.

"The future is bright," Verde proclaimed on its official Facebook page.

The 45-year-old Wolff is Austin FC's inaugural coach, assuming the position in November 2019.

Last year was Verde's first season in Major League Soccer (MLS) in which the team compiled a 9-4-21 record.

“We are extremely fortunate to have such a highly respected and highly talented coach lead our coaching staff, and we’re both grateful and appreciative for all of the work he puts in to representing Austin in the best way possible,” Precourt said in the release.

One of MLS's newest franchises, Austin FC rode a four-game winning streak until its match against L.A. Galaxy on Mother's Day and was the second-best team in the Western Conference.

Verde hadn't lost in two months before it fell 1-0 to the Galaxy, according to Austin NBC affiliate KXAN.

As of press time, Verde was preparing for its road match against LAFC on Wednesday (May 18).

Wolff expressed his gratitude toward the Verde front office for the extension, per the release.

“I’m very grateful to Anthony, the Austin FC ownership group and [Austin FC sporting director] Claudio [Reyna] for their continued faith and confidence,” he said. “This is still a young, growing club but seeing our vision for Austin FC come to life on and off the field has been one of the great honors of my career. My staff and I will keep working every day to represent the city, and to develop our team both competitively and as human beings. The best is yet to come.”

According to the release, Austin FC hired Wolff away from the U.S. Men's National Team (USMNT) staff, where he served as an assistant coach.

Wolff's coaching career begin in 2013 when he was an assistant coach with D.C. United, who finished that season as the winner of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

As a player, Wolff suited up for three MLS clubs and one German team during a career that spanned 14 seasons, the release said.
