An Austin wedding planner, Amina Garrison, penned the book "Best Wedding Ever." | Amina Garrison

The Wedding Day Girl team considers themselves not only boutique wedding planners but also advisors, listeners, and friends to their clients.

The book "Best Wedding Ever" is about exactly that, author Amina Garrison, owner of The Wedding Day Girl in Austin, said.

"You get advice not only from me, [but also] from top experts in the industry like the Flower Chef out of California, who works with companies as big as Twitter, Secret, Bravo, Smashbox, etc. I share guidance on negotiating vendor contracts, rain plans, and tenting," Garrison told the Austin Journal. "The [book's] appendix even gives you wedding vendor lingo so you know what everything means."

Garrison has approximately 18 years of experience as a wedding planner.

"Experience is one of the important things I usually point out," she said. "I’ve seen everything as a wedding planner and then some, so there is a training process our team must go through, and having me with my eyes on your wedding as quality assurance is something we don’t skimp on. Another important stand-out feature is, we don’t limit our communication with clients. I really believe that the more we get to know our clients and their family, no matter what planning service they hire us for, the better their day will  be."

Garrison continued, "It’s easy to have a wedding with an unlimited budget and make something glamorous, but the real work comes when we put time, effort, and love to understanding your vision and where we can take you so your planning process doesn’t feel overwhelming. That’s where we stand out in the pool of vendors in our industry."

She wrote the book after selling her wedding planning business in Scottsdale, Arizona. She moved to Austin to raise her family.

"I also knew in my heart it wouldn’t take me long to realize I missed designing weddings," she said.

Garrison's team grew in Austin and now helps plan and execute big-production weddings for luxury clientele.

"Essentially, I’ve come full circle," she said to the Austin Journal. "I feel really good about being back right where I belong. The Austin market has so much gratitude for the work that I do; that means more to me than anything, it makes it really easy to love everything about the industry here."

Wedding Day Girl offers a range of services to adhere to all types of people and budgets, from a month of coordination to “a little coordination” to simple hourly services.

Garrison has designed large-production weddings and events with up to $1-million-dollar budgets. She has built and sold one of the largest full-service wedding planning and design companies in the West.
