Cameron Dicker, kicker for the Texas Longhorns, is entering the 2022 NFL draft, foregoing his last year of eligibility as a college player.
“Words cannot express how thankful I am for Longhorn Football, The University of Texas and the City of Austin," Dicker said in a statement, KVUE reported. "To my coaches, professors, teammates and fans, thank you for your support. There is nothing like the pride and loyalty of The University of Texas and of being a Longhorn."
Dicker, who played at Lake Travis High School, is the third ranked all-time leading scorer for the Longhorns, trailing only Ricky Williams and Cedric Benson.
Dicker holds a school record in field goals made with 60 and is tied for first in career attempts at 79, KYUE said. He's second all-time in extra points made with 206 and attempted at 210, and fourth in career field goal accuracy at 75.9% (60-for-79), the station reported.
If drafted by the NFL, he would be the sixth UT kicker or punter to be drafted since the 1970s, the station said.
The others were punter Michael Dickson in 2018, kicker Jeff Ward in 1987, kicker John Teltschik in 1986, punter John Goodson in 1982 and kicker Russell Erxleben in 1979, the story said.
"Coming to Texas, I could never have imagined I’d be leaving holding the records of all-time field goals made and most points scored by a Texas kicker, as well as third in all-time points scored," Dicker said. "I am humbled and honored by these accomplishments given all the great players who came before me. I am so proud to have represented Texas as your kicker these last four years. I love this university and I love Longhorn Nation. The Forty Acres will always be home to me."
