The University of Texas has hired Brennan Marion to join Steve Sarkissian's staff as the Longhorns' new wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator.
"I'm so excited for this opportunity and can't wait to get started. Coach Sark is as big time of an offensive coach as there is, and what he's putting together as the head coach at Texas is something I'm thrilled to be a part of. The opportunity to learn, study and grow under him at a premier program like Texas was a no-brainer," Marion said.
Marion himself is a record-setting collegiate receiver and he also has extensive experience in the field of coaching at not only high schools but also at the college level.
"Brennan's a great addition to our staff, and I'm so fired up to have him on board," head coach Steve Sarkisian said. "He's a guy I've watched from afar and admired, and when we talked about a passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach here, his name just kept coming up. His reputation as a teacher, coach, recruiter and mentor is tremendous, and he's an innovative coach who will bring a lot of new and unique ideas to our passing game."
Marion had a hand in one of the nation's best offenses in 2021 as the Panthers scored an average of 41 points a game and reeled off nearly 490 yards of total offense and 337.4 yards passing per game.
"He is a high-energy person and a relationship guy who gets the best out of his players. He will not only be a great coach for our receivers and an outstanding member of our staff, but an experienced and knowledgeable mentor who will be an awesome resource to everyone in our program," Sarkisian said.
Marion comes to Austin from Pitt, where he held the same position. Last season, he coached Jordan Addison to the Biletnikoff Award, which is presented to the country's best receiver. The Panthers, who won their first ACC title, capped 2021 with an appearance in the Peach Bowl.
Marion succeeds the departed Andre Coleman. Marion's collegiate coaching career dates back to when he was at Howard University in Washington, D.C., where he served as the Bison's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
He graduated from Tulsa back in 2009, where he was an All-CUSA receiver for the Golden Hurricanes.
