On Dec. 4, Liberty Hill edged out Alamo Heights 43-40 to advance to the state semifinals for the second straight season.

KXAN News reported that the Panthers downed a previously undefeated Alamo Heights team in what was a hard-fought battle. Liberty Hill had soundly won the previous three rounds by at least three touchdowns.

"The countdown to #victory! Congratulations @LH_Panthers_FB," Jonathan Bever wrote in a Dec. 3 Twitter post.

The Panthers had to overcome a 19-14 deficit at the halfway mark of the game. They relied heavily on Andon Thomas throughout the day, and in the second half, he scored a short touchdown to bring the score to a 29-26 lead.

On the following kickoff, the Panthers would make a successful onside kick attempt, with Thomas recovering the ball leading to a touchdown by Reese Vickers to broaden the lead for the Panthers. Alamo Heights would manage to score one more touchdown, but wouldn't be able to get the ball back for the rest of the game, letting the Panthers run away with the win.

Liberty Hill will next face Crosby in the state semifinal matchup.
