Austin Mayor Steve Adler expressed his condolences to the victims affected after a Timberview High School student opened fire, injuring four people on Oct. 6.

"My thoughts are with Mayor Ross and the #ArlingtonTX community, the latest victims in our country's gun violence epidemic,” Adler said.

Investigators say the alleged shooter is 18-year-old Timothy George Simpkins, who pulled out a firearm after being involved in a fight on school premises. The suspect then led authorities on a manhunt across North Texas.

He was later handcuffed and arrested by Arlington Police Department in a parking lot, and booked into the local jail on three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, with bond set at $75,000, NBC reports.

According to the Houston Daily, the shooting marks the second of its kind to be reported in Texas in less than a week, following a shooting at Yes Prep Secondary School in Houston on Oct. 1, leaving a campus administrator wounded.

"We know that this is a tragedy, a traumatic incident for these high school kids. So, we have a tremendous amount of FBI, Arlington victim services that will hopefully talk to them and help them through this tragic incident," Assistant Chief Kevin Kolbye said.
