Shen Yun invites audiences to explore the world of ancient China through classical Chinese dance. The performance, which combines elaborate costumes, high-tech backdrops, and a unique orchestra, aims to bring legends to life on stage.

The company showcases a cultural heritage that is no longer visible in modern China. According to Shen Yun, “the ruling communist regime has viewed China’s rich spiritual and artistic heritage as a threat to its ideology and for decades tried to erase it.” In 2006, Chinese artists based in New York established Shen Yun with the mission of reviving this lost culture. They are inspired by Falun Dafa, a spiritual practice emphasizing truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance.

Shen Yun has gained global recognition over the years. Audiences travel long distances to attend performances, some even attending multiple times. The company states that many believe “there are no words to describe it—you have to see it with your own eyes.”

The event is independently organized and not affiliated with the Long Center’s views or values. The Long Center emphasizes its commitment to maintaining a safe environment free from harassment or discrimination for all involved.
