Service Dogs Inc. will host its annual Mighty Texas Dog Walk on Nov. 13 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Camp Mabry parade grounds. The event, touted as “The Doggiest Day In Austin,” has become a staple for Austin families and their dogs and is known for its numerous Guinness World Records.

The fundraiser will include a scenic one-mile stroll through Camp Mabry’s Parade Grounds alongside an expo featuring a canine agility setup, “Sniffari” course, costume contest, and many other canine products to sample. According to the event page the theme for this year’s costume contest will be “My Favorite Things.” Funds raised during the event will benefit the Service Dogs Inc. training program.

To date, the Mighty Texas Dog Walk has claimed 10 Guinness World Records including “Most Dogs Walked,” “Largest Fur Ball” and “Largest Cake for Dogs.” According to the event page, they will attempt the “World’s Largest Dog Bowl” at the event this year.

Founded in 1988, Service Dogs Inc. adopts dogs from shelters throughout Texas and trains them to be assistance dogs. Their mission is to provide abandoned, unwanted dogs with renewed lives of purpose and love while simultaneously helping Texans in need, free of charge.
