The fourth annual Pride Picnic, organized in collaboration with Future Front Texas, is set to take place on Saturday, June 28th from 10 am to 2 pm at Pease Park located at 1100 Kingsbury Street. The event promises a variety of activities and offerings for attendees.
Participants are encouraged to prepare for the hot weather by bringing essentials such as sunscreen, sunglasses, light breathable clothing, a picnic blanket, a refillable water bottle, and snacks. Food and drinks will also be available for purchase on-site.
The event will feature a market with 30 vendors and community resource booths. Activities include crafts and activations such as camp charms and keychains with Future Front, book swap with The Little Gay Shop, clay workshops by Gays with Clay, Austin Bat Cave Book Mobile sessions, weaving wall by Pease Park Conservancy, DJ sets by Queer Vinyl Co., and a queer singalong with AV.
Food options include offerings from Terrace Tavern Bar with both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages along with snacks; Sno Ride Sno Boxes serving snow cones; Brother Friend Coffee providing various beverages like coffee and tea; Meat Your Heart offering Caribbean-inspired street food; and Mariachi Tex-Mex featuring tacos and burritos.
For those planning their visit to Pease Park, alternative transportation methods such as walking or biking are encouraged. Free parking is available at the Austin Recreation Center (1301 Shoal Creek Blvd) or the ACC Rio Grande Parking Garage (824 W 12th St), both accessible via the Shoal Creek Trail. Metered parking is also an option along Parkway using the Park ATX app.
Opportunities remain open for volunteers interested in supporting the event. Roles include event setup from 8:00 am to 10:00 am, assistance during different shifts throughout the day until wind down from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm.
