Austin police are investigating a fatal incident that occurred early Friday morning at the intersection of South IH 35 SVRD NB and East Ben White Boulevard SVRD EB. Officers responded to a call at 2:35 a.m. on June 20, 2025, reporting an injured individual who was possibly involved in a collision with a motor vehicle.

The pedestrian, described as an unidentified white male, was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. No vehicles were found at the scene. The Austin Police Department (APD) is treating this case as a Collision Involving Death.

This marks Austin’s 45th fatal crash of the year, resulting in 49 fatalities. By comparison, on the same date in 2024, there had been 34 fatal crashes leading to 35 deaths.

The investigation is ongoing and initial assessments may change as more information becomes available.
