On June 20, 2025, at approximately 2:35 a.m., officers from the Austin Police Department (APD) responded to an incident involving a pedestrian at the intersection of South IH 35 SVRD NB and East Ben White Boulevard SVRD EB. The unidentified white male pedestrian was found injured and was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. No motor vehicles were found at the scene.

The incident is currently being investigated as a collision involving death. This marks Austin’s 45th fatal crash in 2025, resulting in a total of 49 fatalities for the year. In comparison, on this date in 2024, there were 34 fatal crashes leading to 35 deaths.

The APD emphasized that these statements are based on their initial assessment and that the investigation is ongoing. They noted that fatality information may change as more details become available.
